Pav for Pav bhaji/ Vada Pav/ Buns

Pav or buns are a widely consumed type of bread. It forms an integral part of recipes like pav bhaji and vada pav; both of which are a loved street food across the country. Because the freshness and hygiene of these pavs cannot be confirmed, I thought of making these at home. It’s been a while since I started preparing Pav at home and my family just loves the fresh pavs made at home and the freshness is unmatched! I have mixed whole wheat flour to the plain flour; you may only use plain flour. Try these simple and yummy pavs at home.

Ingredients:
Plain flour: 1 cup
Whole wheat flour: 1 1/2 cups
Yeast: 20 gms or 2 Tbsps
Milk powder: 1 Tbsp
Sugar: 1 Tbsp
Salt: 2 Tsps
Butter: 2 Tbsps
Water: For kneading a soft dough

Baking Time: 20-25 minutes at 180 degrees

Method:

  1. Mix both flours, Yeast, sugar, milk powder, butter, salt. Knead into a soft dough. Proof for 30 minutes to an hour.

2. After 30 minutes, make equal-sized balls and place in a greased baking tray. These balls will again be proofed for 30 minutes to an hour.

3. Once proofed, milk wash these buns. (Apply milk gently over the buns) and place in the oven.

Apply some butter over these pavs or buns to keep them soft. Tadaa! They are ready. Serve them hot with butter or make bhaji or vadas to go with them!
