Kalakand is an awesome Indian dessert and I have come up with a simplified version of the same. This recipe of Kalakand requires only 3 main ingredients. Yes! that’s right…only 3 ingredients.
Paneer/ Cottage cheese: 200 gms
Condensed milk: 200 gms
Cardamom/ Elaichi: 5-6 ground (optional)
Cooking time: 15-20 minutes
- Crumble paneer using hands, till it becomes smooth. Remember not to knead it as we are looking for a crumbly (or Daanedar as we say it in Hindi) texture of it. (My simple homemade paneer recipe can be found here.)
2. Once crumbled soft, add condensed milk (which has also been heated till a harder texture is attained as shown). Add this mixture to a wok and heat on a low flame for 5 minutes.
3. Once the two have incorporated well and cooked for 5-8 minutes till it gives out a lovely ‘milky’ aroma, add cardamom powder and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
Set the mixture in a greased tray for 15 minutes. Garnish with pistachios and cut into shape you like!
Kalakand is ready!
